Explore and discover the city of Malaga from a historical and fun perspective. All Malaga highlights in walking distance, the must-see tour on foot for visitors who want a local experience within 2 hours at a low budget, all included in our award winning walking tour with all the essential.
Get to more places than other companies can’t get including off the beaten path places, because we love to get lost! You will be amazed by the history of Malaga, a true Mediterranean gem, all in walking distance.
With this walking tour of Malaga you cover the whole Historical Center in a very pleasant and easy walk. As the American writer Jane Bowles wrote: cities are books that you read with your feet!
We’ll get started with a brief introduction of the tour! Our licensed tour guide will give you a short summary about what it’s included and the timing.
Next up will walk to the stunning Larios street, by far the most spectacular and comercial street in Malaga, no wonder is known by the local people as the living room, the place to see and be seen.
Second stop, you’ll walk to the main market, Atarazanas (closed on Sundays and holidays, opens from 8AM until 3PM, so the interior is not included in our evening tour 😞). We’ll have a dive into the heart of the local life. If you wanna know what’s going on on a city, then go to the market!
We will follow with a nice walk in the surroundings of calle Compañía and calle San Juan, where you will discover some of the most stunning churches and pedestrianized streets, off the beaten path.
Now you’re ready for the most historical area, the origin of Malaga. First the Cathedral, a stunning Renaissance jewel started in 1528 and not “finished” until 1780. Find out why is known by the locals with the sweet nickname “Manquita” and discover its connection with the American Revolution. After this history and culture immersion, we’ll head to the archeological section, the Roman Theater and the Moorish Fortress Alcazaba, with a very complete exterior explanation.
On the way back to our last stop, we will cross the Picasso’s Area, with fun and interesting information about the most universal artist we had in Malaga, because, you knew that Picasso was born in Malaga, right?
At the end of this walking tour, you’ll have done so much more than wandering in Malaga, you’ll understand the city history from the top to the bottom, and we bet this town will have found a place in your heart and memories ❤️
